Maria de la Luz Medrano

Greetings and welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  
My name is Maria de la Luz Medrano and I am thrilled to be your child’s U.S. History or World Geography teacher this year at Sharyland High School. I want to take a moment to introduce myself and share some important information with you.
I am originally from Laredo, TX and I've been living in the RGV since 2010. I am married and have two children. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M International University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Studies grades 8-12 certification. I am currently procuring a graduate degree from Lamar University. I am an active member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.
I am committed to creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported and motivated to reach their full potential. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, and I look forward to seeing your child grow both academically and personally. I am excited to work together with you to support your child’s success. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of their educational journey. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, growth, and achievement.
