Joining us for the 2020-21 school year is Mr. Patrick Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt is a recent graduate from the newly constructed Texas A&M University-Kingsville School of Music, having earned his Honors Bachelors of Music in Instrumental Education and Trombone Performance, graduating Magna Cum Laude. During his time at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, he has tutored students in music theory courses, presented several research projects in collaboration with the Honors College, rehearsed the 200+ member 'Pride of South Texas' Javelina Marching Band, and conducted the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Trombone Choir for several concert performances. 

Born in Matamoros, Mexico, and raised in Brownsville, TX, Mr. Schmidt is excited to return to the Rio Grande Valley to educate young minds through music. He will be instructing the trombone, euphonium, and french horn studios at Sharyland High School, and teaching beginner high brass classes at Martinez Elementary.  In his spare time, Mr. Schmidt enjoys arranging and composing music, playing video games/card games, traveling and tasting local cuisine, and relaxing at home with his girlfriend, Ashley, and son, Collin.
