Class Goals   

Principles of Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security introduces students to professions in law enforcement, protective services, corrections, firefighting, and emergency management services. Students will examine the roles and responsibilities of police, courts, corrections, private security, and protective agencies of fire and emergency services. The course provides students with an overview of the skills necessary for careers in law enforcement, fire service, protective services, and corrections.

School/Class Procedures

The school-wide behavior expectations are described in the student handbook. Please review if you have questions.  I fully support and enforce these standards.  I expect students to be quietly seated and working on their daily assignment or activity immediately upon entering the classroom.  Independent reading may also be assigned or group projects.

 

Excused Absences - rule stays same (1-1 up to 5 days)

The following stays the same:

  1. Unexcused Absences - no makeup work unless extenuating - max of 70
  2. Redo of FAILING MAJOR ASSIGNMENT - max 70; NOT for PAP, AP, DE
  3. Makeup LATE MAJOR ASSIGNMENT - Days: 3 CP; 2 for PAP, AP, DE
  4. Makeup LATE MINOR ASSIGNMENT - NOT for PAP, AP, DE
  5. 50%+ fail MAJOR ASSIGNMENT - reteach, alternative assignment, keep highest of the two
  6. PR - every 3 weeks, must incl 1 MAJOR ASSIGNMENT
  7. Parent contact after 1 zero on MAJOR or 3 zeros on MINOR
  8. If SEM EXAM causes st to fail, option to retest (w/in 3 days - max 70)
  9. 50% fail SEM EXAM = alternative exam w/in 3 days, keep highest of the two
  10. Admin can extend retesting time frame (extenuating)
