Course Description:

The course begins with a review of essential Spanish I and II skills.  Level of instruction assumes a basic knowledge of grammar concepts and vocabulary introduced in Spanish I and II.  Emphasis is on communicating in Spanish through speaking and writing.  Students will participate in individual, paired, and group activities as well as complete written and oral exercises to practice higher level vocabulary and grammar concepts.  Students will also study Hispanic culture, geography, and history.  In addition, they will be introduced to the works of some major writers of the Spanish-speaking world.  The primary focus of this course is to increase the students' ability to communicate in Spanish with ease and confidence.

Classroom Expectations:

1.  Be on time to class, remain seated, and begin preparing your materials for the day’s lesson.

2.  Bring your materials to class EVERYDAY (binder/pen/pencil).

3.  If absent, it is YOUR responsibility to ask for your make-up work from the teacher or a group partner.

4.  Always be respectful to your peers, teachers, classroom guests and/or substitutes.

5.  Obscene language and bad manners will not be tolerated.

5.  You are NOT allowed to leave the classroom, unless you have permission from the teacher or substitute.

6.  No food and drinks allowed.

7.  Use the following heading on your paper for ALL ASSIGNMENTS:

Grading policy:

60% Major Assignments

40% Minor Assignments

Throughout the year, you will have to complete Major projects - they will require online research and work outside of class. I will allow time for you to begin the project in the computer lab, however you will need to finalize these projects at home. If you do not have access to a computer and a printer at home, please make the necessary arrangements with time.

Plagiarism, the use of another person's original ideas or writings as one's own without giving credit to the true author, will be considered cheating, and the student will be subject to academic discipline that may include loss of credit for the work in question.

*Please do your best to make sure that all of your actions in the classroom are appropriate and considerate of others.

*If you are not clear about an activity, assignment or teaching point, please ask right away and attend tutorials.

*The classroom needs to be neat and clean at the end of each period. Please help put books away neatly and help pick up trash, even if it isn't yours.  Have pride in your school!
