Sandra Rios, a Mission CISD elementary teacher, is set to graduate in May with a Masters in Library Science from Sam Houston State University. Sandra has completed her internship hours in Mission libraries and at Pioneer High School with librarian Janie B. Flores. Sandra assisted in creating a Screencast video for students on how to navigate through the Texas Workforce Solutions site. In addition, Sandra recommended several Young Adult novels which focused on teen issues or promoted multi-cultural literacy. Overall, Sandra felt being at a high school was a rewarding and great learning experience.
Bentsen Top Reader
Bentsen's first ever first-grader reached a million words read Katherine Gonzalez. Katherine is an excellent student and has been a top reader since kinder. Mr. Jose Guerrero serves as her librarian.

National Library Week @ Sharyland North Junior High School
April 11-15 was National Library Week. Mr. Koenig, SNJH Librarian, received a plant and a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory assortment of delectable sweets.
John H Shary Top Reader
Our top million word reader is fifth grader, Sofia Jordan who has read nearly six million words this school year! Sofia has always been an avid reader, but this year her goal is to surpass 1,000 AR points. With that sort of dedication to reading, there's no telling what other goals she can accomplish!
Bentsen's Top Reader
Bentsen's top reader is Andres Cavazos. Andres has read more than three million words this school year. Andres's favorite book was The Candy Shop War by Brandon Mull. Mr. Guerrero keeps Brandon supplied with great books to read at the Bentsen Library.

1st Grade Top Reader @ John H Shary Elementary
We are so proud of first grader, Eowyn Stroop. She will be our first million word reader in first grade at Shary Elementary! Some of her favorite books include the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Gregor the Overlander.
DEAR Drop Everything and Read @ Shimotsu Elementary
On April 12, Shimotsu celebrated Drop Everything and Read for 15 minutes.
